Two men, Abdul Kamara and Dominic Monrovia, also known as Elon Wise, have been sent to the High Court for conspiracy to defraud and obtaining money by false pretences.
According to court records, the accused, along with unknown accomplices, allegedly conspired between 15th and 20th May 2025 in Freetown to defraud Daniel Musa.
On 20th May 2025, at Masalia Village, Masiaka Town, Koya Chiefdom in the Port Loko district, the accused reportedly obtained $30,000 USD (equivalent to Le720,000) from Musa by falsely claiming to have two fuel tanker trucks for sale, knowing the claim was untrue.
During the preliminary hearing, the prosecution presented evidence indicating a prima facie case. After reviewing submissions from both sides, Magistrate Jah ruled that there was sufficient evidence to commit the accused to stand trial at the High Court.
Abdul Kamara was remanded at the Male Correctional Centre, while Dominic Monrovia was granted bail under strict conditions, including remaining within Freetown until the next court date.
The matter has been adjourned pending the scheduling of the High Court trial.
