The Government of Sierra Leone through the Ministry of Public Administration and Political Affairs (MoPAPA) and the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development (MoPED) is pleased to announce that it will host the Third High-Level Forum on South-South and Triangular Cooperation for Sustainable Development from the 7th-9th May 2025.
The event will be held under the theme, “The Role of the Global South in Reshaping the New International Order.”
In a press release issued by the Ministry of Public Administration and Political Affairs, this prestigious Forum will be hosted in Sierra Leone for the very first time, taking place at the Freetown International Conference Centre, Bintumani Hotel in Freetown.
According to the media release, the conference will convene Heads of States, development partners, policy makers, youth groups, the civil organizations, and a range of local and international non-state actors. The Forum’s agenda will align the Second Ten-Year Implementation Plan of the African Union’s Agenda 2063 in the context of current global and continental transformations.
The key thematic areas include: Evaluating the global financial architecture and its implications for Africa, including the establishment of credit rating agencies.
Advancing the implementation of the BAPA+40 outcome documents, addressing governance challenges in sectors such as health, food security and education.
Providing a platform for youth to share innovative domestic initiatives that support the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS) and the Africa Union Agenda 2063 and finally young innovators and entrepreneurs are highly encouraged to participate.
