‘Salone’ to Host APRM Conference

Sierra Leone is set to host the Africa Peer Review Mechanism conference in Sierra Leone on May 7-9, 2025. The forum will be held at the Freetown International Conference Center (Bintumani). This disclosure was made at a snappy press conference that was host at the ministry of information and civic education conference hall at Youyi Building in Freetown by the Ministry of Public Administration and Political Affairs

Giving a historical background, the Minister of Public Administration and Political Affairs, who also double as the APRM focal point person for Sierra Leone Amara Kallon, disclosed that, the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) is a voluntary, self-monitoring system initiated to encourage good governance and sustainable development in member states, With It focuses on promoting democratic governance, economic growth, and integration through a peer review process where countries assess each other’s progress and share best practices

He underscored that over the years, the APRM has become a household name in Sierra Leone, which paved the way for His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio to serve as chairperson

He pointed out that sixty-six members countries will be coming to Sierra Leone to witness the historical conference.

He disclosed that the conference will set the stage for innovators and business people from different countries to come and interact with people in Sierra Leone Shere ideas and build on them to help build our nations

Sara Hamouda APRM Continental Secretariat, in her submission, disclosed that the APRM Conference which will soon kick off, will help to share successfully stories about Africa that will help motivate other countries to follow same

She added that APRM wants to see leaders from different countries coming together and share common values learn from each other and try to implement the APRM recommendations into action

She said that this will help to bring in more investors to invest into some of this countries on Education, electricity, among others, which will help boost the economy of that country.

“This will create more rooms for young innovators to interacts with each other which will create the space for the youths to grown and also be part of decision making in their different societies,” she said. In her submissions, Mabukara Tsuene who is the United Nation Development Program (UNDP) Economic Adviser, stated that the UNDP  is very please and willing to support Sierra Leone in hosting  the APRM Conference and see how this will help to develop member countries

She maintained that the South South cooperation has been identified as a road map to create opportunities for most underdeveloped countries to be able to interact with other countries share ideas collaborate and support each other to develop.
