3 LEOCEM Staff Jailed

Twenty years old Anthony Kamara a carpenter, Twenty-five years old Alusine Sesay a Labourer and Twenty-five years old Josephus Mansaray a Labourer made their first appearance before Magistrate Augustine Brima Samura of Pademba Road court no.8 in Freetown on two count charges to wit Conspiracy contrary to law and Store breaking contrary to section 26th (1) of the larceny Act 1916

According to the particulars of offence on the 27th May 2025 at LEOCEM CEMENT factory Bett Street Kanikay Cline Town the western area in Freetown conspired together and with other persons unknown to commit a crime to wit store breaking and larceny

Count two further stated that on the same date and place the accused persons with intent to steal broke and entered into LEOCEM CEMENT factory Lubricant store Bett Street Kainkay Cline Town and stole therein two hundred and eight litres CLP Oil, one hundred and eighty litres of EP2 Oil and two hundred and two hundred and eight litres of 15W40 all to the total value of sixty two thousand seven hundred and ninety eight Leones (62,798,00) Property of LEOCEM CEMENT factory

When the charge was read and explained to the accused person No plea

Detective Police Constable 14898 Joseph C. Dumbuya lead Prosecution witness number one John Mac Adeyemi the principal shop steward at the above factory and an electrician at the electrical department he  recognized the accused persons he recall on the 27th May 20205 on the above date he reported for work at the said factory when an Indian worker gave him information upon the information he called the security who asked him to see him at his security post the security man gave him another information which let to the arrest of the  three accused persons the witness said he interrogated the accused persons they admitted breaking the store at the said factory the witness said the accused persons pleaded for mercy upon that he informed him boss Chraykant who advised him to take the appropriate action he reported the matter at Ross Road Police Station the witness said he went into the store keeper accompanied him he observed that certain items were missing all to the total sum of 62,798 he later made statement to the police

The accused persons was not legally represented they cross examined the witness

Meanwhile Magistrate Samura refused bail and sent the accused persons to the male correctional facility in Freetown as the matter adjourned to the 19th June 2025.
