RC Bank Set to Expand in Liberia

The Managing Director of Rokel Commercial Bank (RCB), Dr. Walton Ekundayo Gilpin, led a high-powered delegation on a courtesy visit to the Sierra Leone Embassy in Monrovia as part of a feasibility mission exploring the bank’s potential expansion into Liberia.

Welcoming the delegation, the Head of Chancery, Mrs. Sia A. Tejan, expressed delight on behalf of the Embassy staff and commended Dr. Gilpin and his team for considering Liberia as part of RCB’s regional growth strategy. Warm introductions were exchanged as both sides engaged in cordial and strategic dialogue.

Speaking on behalf of his team, Dr. Gilpin conveyed appreciation for the Embassy’s warm reception. He explained that the visit aimed to assess the viability of establishing Rokel Commercial Bank’s presence in Liberia a move inspired by President Julius Maada Bio’s vision for reputable Sierra Leonean institutions to extend their footprint beyond national borders. He further noted that prior meetings had already been held with key Liberian stakeholders, including the Governor of the Central Bank and the Minister of Finance, who were receptive to the idea.

In his remarks, Deputy Ambassador Mr. Lusine Kallon applauded the RCB delegation for their forward-looking initiative. He raised pertinent questions, which were effectively addressed by Dr. Gilpin and Mr. Charles B.S. Sesay, Director of Internal Audit.

Mr. Sesay underscored the strategic role of the Embassy’s Trade Attaché, Mr. Faroog Cole, noting that his support would be invaluable in linking the bank with Liberia’s business community.

At the conclusion of the visit, Dr. Gilpin presented copies of RCB’s corporate magazine to the Embassy, which the Head of Chancery handed over to the Deputy Ambassador. The Embassy assured the delegation of its full support as they proceed with their exploratory mission.

Davies, Supervisor Finance Department , Umar Yanka, Personal Assistant at MD’s Office.
