On Thursday, 30th July 2025, the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) held its National Delegates Conference at the Bintumani Hotel in Freetown.
It came as no surprise when Jimmy Batilo Songa won the chairmanship election convincingly against his opponent, Ing. Amara Kanneh.
Sir Jimmy Batilo Songa, the newly elected National Chairman of the SLPP, is one of the party’s most respected stalwarts. His long-standing contributions to strengthening the party at the grassroots level have been instrumental in upholding the values that keep the SLPP united and resilient.
Before returning to Sierra Leone from the United Kingdom, where he spent several years, Sir Jimmy revitalized party branches, reinforced internal structures, and championed the voices of ordinary members.
In his role as Deputy Commissioner of the National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA), he has continued to serve the nation by overseeing social safety net programmes, championing youth employment, and promoting transparency and good governance in national development.

As the party looks ahead to the 2028 national elections, Sir Jimmy emphasizes unity, discipline, and inclusion as the pillars of sustainable progress.
