COFA Community League Suspended Over Administrative Irregularities

The Western Area Football Association (WAFA) has officially suspended the much-anticipated Central One Football Association (COFA) Community League, which was scheduled to kick off on Sunday, 31st August 2025.

In a press release issued to the general public, football stakeholders, and community teams, WAFA confirmed that the suspension takes immediate effect. The decision, according to WAFA, stems from serious administrative irregularities and a failure by COFA to comply with directives issued by the parent body.

WAFA further disclosed that all necessary authorities have been notified to restrict the use of their facilities for the COFA Community League during this suspension. The Association stressed its commitment to ensuring transparency, accountability, and good football governance in the Western Area.

However, the big question remains: what will be WAFA’s next course of action if COFA defies this directive and proceeds with the tournament?

Observers believe WAFA could take tougher measures, including disciplinary sanctions against individuals or community teams that disregard the suspension. This could also extend to further administrative action in line with the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) statutes, thereby escalating the matter beyond the Western Area level.
