The Vice President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, has reassured residents of Aberdeen and the nation at large of President Julius Maada Bio’s steadfast commitment to investing in football as a tool for peace, unity, and youth empowerment.
Speaking on Sunday, 23 November 2025, at the grand finale of the Millh Foundation Football Gala held at the Casablanca Field, Old Market, Aberdeen Road, Vice President Jalloh emphasized that football remains one of the strongest pillars for national cohesion.
Addressing the large gathering of community members, football fans, and youth groups, he underscored the significance of the sport in promoting long lasting peace in Sierra Leone.
“Football over the years has been playing a very pivotal role in bringing peace in Sierra Leone, even before our 11 year civil war, the game served as a unifying force, and until this day, it continues to be an important tool that brings communities and young people together.” he stated
The Vice President praised the Millh Foundation for organizing a tournament that not only showcases local talent but also strengthens community bonds. He reiterated that the government recognizes the power of sports, particularly football, in shaping disciplined, focused, and productive young citizens.
Dr. Jalloh assured the public that President Bio’s administration will continue to support initiatives that promote sports development, infrastructure improvement, and youth engagement across the country. He noted that investment in football is an investment in peace, unity, and the future of Sierra Leone.
The grand finale of the gala wrapped up with vibrant community celebrations, reflecting the very unity and spirit that football fosters nationwide.
