S.R. Industries & AL-Hamd Kill One

On Monday, November 24th, 2025, a three-story building collapsed in the Grassfield community, located behind Changes Night Club on New Road, Freetown. Sources close to this medium revealed that the building is owned by S.R. Industries Limited and AL-Hamd Enterprises, situated in the eastern part of Freetown.

Eyewitnesses confirmed that one person has died and several others sustained serious injuries, despite the prompt intervention of a rescue team organized by community stakeholders.

Some residents are still unaccounted for as rescue operations continue, and the unfortunate incident remains ongoing.

Residents have blamed S.R. Industries Limited for poor construction, alleging that the contractor used substandard building materials. The collapse has caused widespread panic, with many workers fearing that nearby structures may also be unsafe.

Sierra Leone, particularly Freetown, has experienced numerous building collapses, with contractors frequently accused of using inferior materials. Just a few months ago, another building collapsed in Lumley, Western Area, trapping residents and resulting in fatalities.

Citizens are calling on the government and the Standards Bureau to conduct regular inspections of all construction materials and ensure compliance with safety standards.

According to the Director of Operations, Desmond Korombo Kargbo, seven people have been hospitalized at Satellite Hospital, Rokupa, while one person has been confirmed dead
