Ahmed Sallieu has been sentenced to 36 months in prison by Magistrate Betty Kallon of Pademba Road Court No.3 with an unusual alternative: refund the money or serve the time.
The accused received the sentence for fraudulently converting goods entrusted to him for safekeeping.
The court heard that on January 4, 2026, at Howe Street, Sallieu converted to his own use property belonging to Mariama Kabba. The stolen items, including packets of gowns, blouses, and trousers, had a total value of Le 14,350.00.
After the charge was read in front of him in court, no plea was taken.
In her ruling, Magistrate Kallon imposed a 36-month custodial sentence. However, she offered Sallieu an alternative, refund the full amount of Le 14,350.00 before the court proceedings closed, or face the prison term.
