Thirty (30) female officers of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) have successfully completed a Basic Information and Communication Technology (ICT) training programme organized by the Victory Teens Organization (VTO) in collaboration with the Directorate of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI).
The training forms part of the Inspector General of Police’s digital transformation agenda, aimed at strengthening the technological capacity of police personnel and enhancing efficiency in modern policing. During the programme, participants received practical instruction in Microsoft Office applications, internet use and digital information management to improve productivity, professionalism and service delivery.
Speaking at the certification ceremony, the Director of DSTI commended the officers for their commitment and dedication throughout the training. She encouraged them to apply the knowledge and skills they had acquired to improve their performance in their respective roles, noting that the initiative reflects the Sierra Leone Police’s commitment to empowering women and promoting their active participation in technology-driven policing.
The Country Director of the Victory Teens Organization, Madam Lebbie, congratulated the graduates on their successful completion of the programme and praised their determination and perseverance. She described the certification as a milestone in their professional development and encouraged them to apply their newly acquired ICT skills in their daily duties, share their knowledge with colleagues and contribute meaningfully to the Sierra Leone Police’s digital transformation agenda.
Madam Lebbie also commended DSTI and the Sierra Leone Police for investing in the advancement of women and reaffirmed the Victory Teens Organization’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote women’s empowerment and professional excellence.
Delivering the keynote address, DSP Milla Bangura congratulated the graduates and applauded the partnership between DSTI, the Victory Teens Organisation and the Sierra Leone Police in advancing digital literacy among female police officers. He emphasised that ICT proficiency is essential to modern policing, particularly in strengthening communication, investigations, records management and efficient service delivery.
DSP Bangura urged the officers to continue developing their ICT skills, stressing that embracing technology and lifelong learning is critical to improving professionalism and operational effectiveness. He reaffirmed the Sierra Leone Police’s unwavering commitment to investing in the professional development of female officers to enable them to meet the evolving demands of policing in the digital age.
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of certificates to the graduates, followed by a group photograph to commemorate the occasion.
