The Aberdeen Aku Ebileh Foundation (TAAEF) on Monday 24th August, 2026 joined Muslims across the world to commemorate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon
Him). The event, which attracted community stakeholders, Islamic scholars, and worshippers, was held at the Kaabatuklah Masjid Madrasat, Cape Road, Aberdeen.
Making his Opening Remarks , the Chairman of the event, Hon. Mohamed Sheriff Rahman-Coker said they had gathered to shower blessings and praises upon Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Ipon Him) on the eve of the commemoration of his birth.
He emphasized the importance of saying “Peace Be Upon Him” whenever the name of Prophet Muhammad is mentioned, describing it as a sign of respect, love, and reverence for the Prophet.
Giving the Historical Background of TAAEF, the Vice Chairman of TAAEF,
Alpha Ibrahim Babatunde Sesay disclosed that the organisation was established on Sunday, 30th April 2023, in Aberdeen, Freetown.
He explained that the Foundation was established to promote the learning of the Holy Quran and Aku culture, foster unity among members of the Aku Ebileh communities, and create opportunities for networking and learning through social media platforms.
The Vice Chairman further disclosed that the TAAEF organisational structure is divided into three main sections: the Main Executive Council, which spearheads the activities of the organisation; the Mualim, headed by the dynamic Amir, Alhaji Alusine Williams, with Alhaji Tejan Rahman and Alhaji Muhaiminu Rashid Davies serving as his deputies; and the General Membership, whose active participation, he noted, is essential to the effective functioning of the organisation.
According to him, the main aim and objective of the organisation is to support and promote Islamic activities in Aberdeen and beyond.
Mr. Sesay explained that the organisation was born out of an Imam’s speech on Islamic activities, coupled with persistent encouragement and pressure from the late former Al-Qadi, Alhaji Mohamed Hashim Bun Tejan, of blessed memory. He said the late Al-Qadi was particularly passionate about ensuring that Aku Ebileh children learned and preserved the Aku culture, the Holy Qur’an, and Islamic teachings.
He said that TAAEF has undertaken several Islamic and community development activities, including supporting Jamaat in various Islamic programmes. He said the organisation has also organized Islamic symposium, bringing together prominent Islamic scholars and clerics, including Sheikh Imam Dr. Salieu Kamara, the Honourable Mufti of Jamieu Haq, Imam Teslim Thomas, and Sheikh Abubakarr Conteh, to lecture and educate members about the Deen, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.
He further noted that TAAEF has observed Maulid Nabi annually since the establishment of the organisation.
He added that one of the major concerns is the difficulty of bringing all Aku Ebileh children onboard the Foundation. He expressed hope and prayed that Almighty Allah would touch the hearts of all Aku brothers and encourage them to join and actively participate in the organisation.
Guest Speaker, Imam Nazir King, reiterated the teachings of the Holy Qur’an that Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) is the best example that Muslims should follow in order to attain Paradise. He also spoke about the importance of inculcating and preserving Aku culture among their children.
Imam King further explained the blessings and remarkable events that occurred before and after the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), as well as the wonders associated with his childhood before the beginning of his prophethood.
Also speaking at the event, Haja Halimatu Abdullah appealed to members of the Aberdeen Aku Ebilah Foundation (TAAEF) to make their proposed learning programme accessible to all women in the Aberdeen community.
She stressed that the initiative should not be limited only to the wives of TAAEF members, noting that many women in Aberdeen lack adequate Islamic knowledge. She therefore urged TAAEF to ensure that, if teachers are engaged to provide Islamic education to their wives, the programme is opened to all women in the community so that everyone can benefit from the learning opportunity.
The event was climaxed with reading of Bunmiheed, Quranic recitations and singing of Aku songs by Aku elders and children.
Alpha Zinurine Yassin Rahman delivered the vote of thanks, while Alhaji Oshoba Nurudeen Aberdeen offered the closing Duah.
