Hours after his return to Sierra Leone was met with jubilation by youths and stakeholders of the All People’s Congress (APC) in Lungi, Abubakarr Kamara-Taylor (AKT) has commenced a grassroots constituency engagement tour.
The first leg of the tour covered Constituencies 075 and 076, where Kamara-Taylor met with party executives, youth groups, women’s wing and ordinary members in a bid to deepen party cohesion at the base.
The meetings provided a platform for open and frank discussions on issues affecting the party’s growth at constituency level, including strengthening internal relationships, improving communication between the grassroots and leadership, and promoting effective cooperation among members.
A major highlight of the engagement was Kamara-Taylor’s call for peace and reconciliation in the wake of the recently concluded APC District Executive Elections in Port Loko. He urged members to put aside their political differences, heal the wounds of the elections and work as one united family.
“The elections are over. What we need now is peace, reconciliation and unity of purpose. No matter our different alignments during the elections, we are all APC,” he told the gathering.
Stakeholders who attended the meetings described the initiative as timely, noting that it will help to calm tensions and re-energize the party base. This Lungi engagement is the first in a series of constituency tours planned by Kamara-Taylor as part of his continued commitment to grassroots empowerment. The outreach is anchored on five core principles: Peace, Reconciliation, Organisation, Unity and Service.
