By Ahmed Papa Kanu

Adey Macauley, a strong member of the All People’s Congress (APC) party, has donated sixty (60) bags of rice, two (2) bags of sugar, three (3) gallons of cooking oil, and four (4) bags of onions to the people of Masimera in Port Loko District.

Masimera Town, the headquarters of Masimera Chiefdom in Port Loko District, warmly welcomed Mr. Macauley in a grand style. The township was filled with young people, especially women. Macauley was accompanied by former Presidential Youth Aide under Ernest Bai Koroma at State House, Alie Conteh, Julius Bambay Kamara Jr. (awaiting MP), his mother, Madam Kadie, and other senior party members.

Also present were APC constituency and ward executives, religious leaders, and traditional heads. The Member of Parliament, Hon. Memunatu Jalloh, and the local councillor were also in attendance to grace the occasion.

The Youth Leader of Masimera Chiefdom, Santigie Koroma, expressed happiness at Mr. Macauley’s visit. “We always count Mr. Macauley as the number one person in this chiefdom,” one of the stakeholders said.

According to him, Adey Macauley has contributed significantly to the chiefdom. He noted that the construction of the town’s roundabouts was made possible by Macauley, who donated 100 bags of cement for the project. He further mentioned that during the week, the paramount chief had publicly requested Macauley’s assistance in constructing a community center, highlighting it as one of the chiefdom’s biggest needs.

Many speakers praised Macauley for his contributions. Mr. Macauley and his entourage expressed joy at the warm welcome from the people of Masimera. In his opening remarks, he stated that he is an indigene of the chiefdom and is always happy to share what he has with his people.

“I remember my first big case as a lawyer-it was the late Paramount Chief’s case in the High Court, and some of you here are aware of it,” he said.

He then announced his intention to contest for the APC flagbearer position and urged his people to support him on this journey. He assured the people of Masimera that he would succeed in his bid for the APC flagbearer position and, ultimately, the presidency.

“With the power of Allah, we will win and take over State House. You will be proud of Masimera for producing a president,” he declared.

As part of his goodwill, he donated NLe10,000 (ten thousand New Leones), with NLe5,000 going to the Imams and the remaining NLe5,000 shared among the youth, women, and APC executives in Masimera. Before traveling to Masimera, he had donated 500 bags of rice to the APC party headquarters in Freetown, where it was received by the party’s deputy chairman, Ambassador Alhaji Osman Foday Yansaneh.

Additionally, Mr. Macauley met with the Regent Road Market women, informing them of his ambition to become the APC flagbearer, emphasizing the important role women play in society.

Before leaving, he donated NLe5,000 to them. The women received the gift with joy and gratitude, praying for his success in his political aspirations.
