During a high-level meeting held in Tehran, Minister Araghchi described Ambassador Koroma as a career diplomat and affirmed Iran’s readiness to collaborate closely with him to deepen bilateral ties.

Minister Araghchi expressed Iran’s appreciation for Sierra Leone’s role as a member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), highlighting the country’s consistent commonplace position with Iran on critical matters, including the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). He underscored the importance of Sierra Leone’s position on the council, stating, “President Bio made the right choice. The meeting also emphasized educational and economic partnerships. Minister Araghchi noted that Iran had awarded scholarships to over 30 Sierra Leonean students to pursue higher education in Iranian universities. He encouraged Sierra Leone to tap into Iran’s abundant business opportunities, particularly in sectors such as technology, agriculture, and trade.

“Iran is a peaceful nation and remains open to dialogue,” Araghchi said, adding that his country is eager to broaden its collaboration with Sierra Leone. He assured Ambassador Koroma of a safe and fruitful stay in Iran.

He outlined Sierra Leone’s priority areas for cooperation, including advancements in science, technology, and agriculture, which he believes will significantly benefit both nations.

On the UNSC, Ambassador Koroma reaffirmed Sierra Leone’s dedication to promoting international peace under President Bio’s leadership. “Sierra Leone is ready to work with Iran to enhance our bilateral ties and contribute to global stability,” he stated.
