‘DIB Movement Will Take APC to State House’ -Dr. Ibrahim Bangura

Presidential aspirant of the All People’s Congress (APC), Dr. Ibrahim Bangura, has stated that the DIB Movement will take the APC to State House if he is elected as the party’s flagbearer. He made this remark during his campaign tour in Waterloo, Bassa Town.

Dr. Bangura is considered one of the strongest APC flagbearer aspirants, having worked behind the scenes since childhood for the growth of the party and the wellbeing of its membership. He is deeply rooted in the APC and has demonstrated a lifelong commitment to professional service and national development.

Describing himself as a “proud son of Sierra Leone,” Dr. Bangura emphasized that his identity and allegiance to the country go beyond political rhetoric, but reflect his lived experience. An Associate Professor in the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies at Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, he has built an enviable academic and professional career grounded in evidence-based policy research on conflict transformation, governance reform, women and youth empowerment, and transitional justice in the sub-region.

For many years, Dr. Bangura served as a Results-Oriented Monitoring (ROM) expert, overseeing EU-funded projects and programmes across Africa. He is also a partner at Transition International, a consultancy firm he co-founded in 2006 to support the reintegration of ex-combatants and help countries transition from war to sustainable peace.

Dr. Bangura traced his paternal roots to the Temne tribe in Mambolo, Kambia District, while his mother is a Fula from Guinea with Baga-Soso ancestry  a family noted for its historically significant political background in Guinea.

Educated primarily in Sierra Leone, he completed his primary and secondary education locally before earning a BA in History and Political Science from Fourah Bay College. He later obtained an MSc from the University of Amsterdam and completed his PhD at the Leipzig School of Management in Germany. He also holds an MSc in Gender Studies from the University of Sierra Leone.

As he seeks the APC presidential flagbearer position, Dr. Bangura presents himself as a candidate shaped by scholarship, international experience, national heritage, and a deep understanding of peace, stability, and development.

His campaign message, “Heal, Build, and Unite,” has served as a wake-up call for Sierra Leoneans, and he remains confident in his ability to lead the APC to State House in the upcoming general elections.
