FANT Organizes ‘Hands Off Our Girls’ in Various Communities

In complementing the First Lady’s initiative, Football for a New Tomorrow (FANT) organized a program titled “Hands Off Our Girls” on Saturday, February 1, 2025, across 20 communities in the Western Area, including Tenbgeh Town, Wilberforce, and other locations.

This year’s campaign aims to educate girls under the age of 18 on the importance of self-protection, staying away from harmful relationships, and avoiding violence. The initiative encourages young girls to uphold positive values and contribute to building safer communities.

As part of its long-term commitment, FANT has been conducting this annual program, with plans to expand to more communities in the coming years, ensuring a violence-free environment for young girls.

FANT is a non-profit organization based in Sierra Leone, with strong partnerships in Denmark. The organization focuses on youth empowerment through sports, identifying and nurturing young athletes, particularly in underprivileged communities.

Through its initiatives, FANT has positively influenced young people living in slum areas, steering them away from negative influences and engaging them in football, handball, and other sporting activities.

Currently, ten communities across Sierra Leone benefit from FANT’s programs, with a strong emphasis on inclusivity-supporting both male and female participants, including persons with disabilities.

FANT employs over 100 workers on a monthly salary, contributing to economic empowerment in these communities. Additionally, the organization has made significant investments in sports infrastructure, developing artificial turf fields in three locations: Murray Town, S.S. Camp, and Aberdeen Beach.

With a vision to expand its impact, FANT plans to broaden its initiatives in the coming years, further promoting sports, youth development, and community advancement in Sierra Leone. Given the abundance of young talent in the country, the organization remains committed to supporting and inspiring aspiring athletes through structured programs and mentorship.
