Alhaji Musa Tarawally has accused Madam Fatima Maada Bio, the First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone, of backing attacks against him through social media bloggers.
Mr. Tarawally alleged that a Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) blogger, identified as Samura, claimed on social media that the First Lady bought a house for him and financially supported his activities.
According to Mr. Tarawally, Samura also claimed on social media that; the First Lady authorised him to go after Musa Tarawally and other opponents within the SLPP.
Mr. Tarawally further stated that Samura boasted in his social media posts that he had attacked other SLPP opponents in the past and that whenever he was arrested, he was released through the intervention of the First Lady.
Addressing President Julius Maada Bio, Mr. Tarawally said they have been struggling to bring and maintain peace in Sierra Leone. He warned that the First Lady was crossing boundaries and that if President Bio could not control her, they would take necessary steps within the political space to ensure peace and stability in the country.
He added that the First Lady should not go around using the police, military, and innocent citizens to intimidate people.
Mr. Tarawally appealed to President Julius Maada Bio to advise his wife, stating that he would never accept such actions.
He also said that bloggers must be controlled, as they are now being used to blackmail political opponents for personal and political gain.
In her response on social media, the First Lady dismissed the allegations, stating that Musa Tarawally knows that the blogger Samura was under his influence.
She claimed that Samura had been living with Musa Tarawally for a long time and that any actions taken by Samura were under the instructions of Mr. Tarawally.
The First Lady further stated that Samura was only known because of his association with her, adding that she knows Samura as she does any other SLPP member in Sierra Leone.
She said Musa Tarawally should have called her directly to discuss the matter instead of going on social media to make such serious allegations.
