NASSIT Hosts Press Cocktail to Strengthen Media Relations

The National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) hosted an elegant press cocktail on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at the Freetown International Conference Centre in Aberdeen, Freetown. The event, which brought together journalists from various media outlets, aimed to foster stronger relationships with the press and recognize the vital role they play in informing the public.

The cocktail party saw the attendance of key stakeholders, including the Minister of Employment, Labour, and Social Security, Mohamed Rahman Swarray, and the Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah. NASSIT’s management and staff were also present, reinforcing the importance of collaboration between the institution and the media.

In his address, NASSIT’s Director General, Mohamed Fuad Daboh, underscored the institution’s commitment to transparency and the importance of building a robust partnership with the media. He expressed appreciation for the media’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness about social security services and other initiatives spearheaded by NASSIT.

The Director General also provided an update on the institution’s strategic efforts aimed at enhancing public understanding of the services it offers, noting the crucial role the press plays in informing and educating citizens about the benefits and responsibilities associated with social security.

“Through collaboration with the media, we can reach more people and ensure that everyone is informed about their rights and the services available to them,” Daboh said. He reiterated NASSIT’s pledge to support an open and cooperative relationship with journalists and other stakeholders in order to promote a better understanding of social security matters.

The event, which was well-received by attendees, served not only as an opportunity to strengthen ties with the press but also as a platform for discussing key challenges and opportunities in the social security sector. The cocktail provided a relaxed and cordial setting for participants to exchange ideas and explore ways to further enhance the impact of NASSIT’s work.

By hosting such events, NASSIT continues to demonstrate its commitment to transparency, open communication, and working hand-in-hand with the media to better serve the public and promote the benefits of social security in Sierra Leone.
