The National Secretary General of the All People’s Congress (APC), Lawyer Lansana Dumbuya, has officially announced that only verified members of the party will be allowed to participate in the upcoming internal elections. This major decision comes as part of a broader initiative to ensure transparency, accountability, and credibility in the party’s electoral process.
Speaking to the press, Mr. Dumbuya highlighted that the APC has faced significant challenges in past elections due to discrepancies and missing information in the delegate registry. These issues, he said, have consistently led to disputes and confusion within the party ranks.
“That is why this year, we have decided to build a system that will accurately capture every member’s data to prevent any errors or inconsistencies,” he stated.
He further revealed that the newly implemented system is not only robust but also highly secure. “The system is encrypted and tamper proof. No one can manipulate it without going through the appropriate channels,” he assured.
The secretary general made it clearly that verification is now a mandatory requirement for all delegates who wish to cast their vote. “If you are a delegate and you fail to verify your membership, you will not be allowed to vote. The system will automatically reject any unverified individual,” he warned.
He underscored that as part of this new verification process, all validated members will receive a new and distinct identity card, replacing the older version previously in use. On Election Day, security personnel will be stationed at all voting venues to inspect ID cards and ensure only verified members are granted access.
He disclosed that the APC has already informed the Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC) about this development and they has expressed full support for the initiative.
According to him, any disputes brought before the PPRC or the courts concerning the election process will first consider the complainant’s membership verification status.
“We are calling on all comrades of the mighty APC to come forward and verify their membership to avoid disqualification and disputes during the election,” Mr. Dumbuya urged.
The Secretary General stated that his move by the APC has been considered as a significant step toward modernizing party operations and restoring public confidence in its internal democratic processes.
