Orange Staff in Le4.2M Cyber Fraud

Five employees of Orange Sierra Leone Limited, Foday Turay, Amad u Koroma, Mohamed Kamara, Cecilia Amara, and Marie Sesay, appeared before Magistrate Sao Mamakoh Betty Kallon at the Freetown Magistrate Court No.3 facing 11 counts of conspiracy, larceny, and cyber fraud amounting to NLe4,278,662.

According to the charge sheet, between January 1, 2024, and August 10, 2025, the accused conspired to defraud their employer by illegally accessing Orange’s computer systems and diverting funds through electronic money transfers.

The prosecution alleged that, Foday Turay stole NLe2,453,647 using SIM number +23278407365; Amadu Koroma stole NLe1,051,438 through two SIM cards; Mohamed Kamara stole NLe259,832; Cecilia Amara diverted NLe156,031; and Marie Sesay took NLe357,714.

All five were further charged under the Cyber Security and Crime Act, 2021 (Act No. 7 of 2021) with unauthorized access to a computer system, data interception, system interference, and computer fraud.

After the charges were read and explained, no plea was taken.

Prosecutor ASP Kamara informed the court that the investigation file was incomplete and requested a short adjournment.

Defense Counsel H. Kargbo applied for bail, arguing that the accused have credible sureties and would appear for trial. However, Magistrate Kallon refused bail, citing the seriousness of the offences and the ongoing investigation.

Meanwhile, Magistrate Kallon refused Bail for all the accused due to the gravity of the offences and the matter has been adjourned pending further hearing.
