Ex-Military officer Sallieu Jalloh (52yrs) made his second appearance before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of pademba Road court no.1 in Freetown for treason trial which was alledged that he conspired with other person’s unknown to overthrow the government of Sierra Leone by unlawful means. Jalloh was standing trial before the court on two count charges of Treason contrary to section 3 (1) (a) of the treason and state offences Act of 1963 Act No.10 of 1963 and misprision of treason contrary to law.
The charge sheet indicated that Jalloh on diverse days between 1st January 2024 and 13th March 2025 in Freetown, prepared to overthrow the government of Sierra Leone by unlawful means.
The charge sheet further that the over Act states that Jalloh on a date unknown between 1st January 2024 and 31st January 2024 in Sierra Leone conspired with captain Aiah Aba Senesie, Sergeant Bangura of Waterloo, Retired Sergeant Kamara and other persons unknown to purchase AK-47 riffles that was meant to be used by captain Aiah Abu Senessie and others to overthrow the government of Sierra Leone by unlawful means.
The over Act further that the accused also agreed to contact police officers and military personnels for the purchase of the said riffles to overthrow the government of Sierra Leone by unlawful means.
That also Sallieu Jalloh contacted Retired Sergeant Kamara in Waterloo, western area rural district and told him that Captain Aiah Aba Senessie wanted to purchase an AK47 Rifles and in that endeavour forwarded Sergeant Kamanda’s phone number to captain Aiah Aba Senessie for riffles in other to overthrow the government of Sierra Leone by unlawful means.
The over Act further that Jalloh also contacted other persons unknown to purchase ammunition that was meant to be used by Aiah Aba Senessie and his criminal friends to overthrow the government of Sierra Leone by unlawful means.
Also the over Act further that Jalloh on the 8 March, 2024 instructed Sandy Sesay and his men to be on standby to execute their anticipated power transition which was imminent.
The indictment further that Jalloh on a date unknown between 26 November 2023 and 26 November 2024 in Sierra Leone well knowing that treason had been committed by captain Aiah Aba Senessie and others unlawfully concealed the said commission of the treason.
After the charges were read and explain to him on his first appearance no plea was taken.
The State prosecutor Yusif Isaac Sesay Esq lead Prosecution witness number one DPC 1818 Hassan Sillas Combay attached at the Operations office at the Criminal Investigation Department CID headquarters, Pademba Road Freetown he recall on the 12th May himself together with Sergeant 8904 Solomon Amadu attached at the above offence on the above date they finally interview and charged the accused person in the dock with the offence of misprision the accused was caution and question in krio by the said Solomon Amadu in krio which he recorded in English at the conclusion of the statement it was read over and explained to the accused person which he admitted it to be true and correct by afflicting his right hand thumbprint with by the said investigator the charge statement of the second accused person was produce and tendered in court to formed part of the court records marked as Exhibit A1-2.
The witness was cross examined by the accused person
Meanwhile Magistrate Jah refused bail and sent the accused person to the male facility in Freetown for continuation of his trial matter adjourned to the 5th June 2025.
