Qcell, one of Sierra Leone’s most renowned mobile telecommunications companies, has brought smiles to the faces of customers in Karene District, located in the northern part of the country.
In an exclusive interview, Mohammed Foday Moriba, Youth Chairman of Kamakuwai, shared that over the past week, the district has faced significant challenges with the two major telecommunications networks in the country.
He explained that most residents were unable to conduct business transactions or make regular phone calls. During this period, Qcell Mobile was the only provider offering consistent service to the people of the district.
Mr. Moriba further noted that many businesses in the area rely on mobile money platforms like Orange Money and Afrimoney. However, accessing these services had been extremely difficult throughout the week.
“I reached out to the appropriate authorities to highlight this issue, and they assured us that the problem would be resolved soon,” he stated. He also appealed to the two major telecommunications companies to address the issue promptly.
Madam Mabinty Conteh, a businesswoman in Kamakuwai, expressed her frustration over the challenges faced during the week without access to reliable mobile networks.
“As a shop owner, I have frequent customers, but I was unable to serve them properly due to the lack of network connectivity,” she said.
Madam Conteh praised Qcell for maintaining a strong and fast network during the challenging period. “Qcell has really supported us, and I am very grateful. I am ready to continue doing business with them anytime,” she added.
Qcell played a pivotal role in alleviating the suffering of residents in Karene District, particularly on New Year’s Day, when reliable mobile network access was crucial.
