Sky Vision College Matriculates Over 150 for Degrees & Diplomas

Sky Vision College (SVC) has officially matriculated over 150+ students into its academic programs for Degrees and Diplomas at a grand ceremony held at the college campus, 5 Main Motor Road, Wilberforce, Freetown. The event marked a significant milestone in the institution’s commitment to providing quality education and fostering academic excellence.

The ceremony was graced by several distinguished guests who addressed the newly admitted students, offering words of wisdom on the importance of education, technology, and national development. Among the notable attendees were:

Directors Highlight the Importance of IT Education

During the event, Sky Vision College Directors Shekhar Kadam and Munish Sharma addressed the students, emphasizing the critical role of IT education in today’s digital world. They explained how Sky Vision College is committed to industry-expert-led training, ensuring students gain hands-on experience and practical knowledge that aligns with global industry standards.

“Our focus is not just on theoretical learning but on real-world applications that prepare students for competitive job markets,” said Director Shekhar Kadam.

Dr. Brimah highlighted the transformative power of education, urging students to embrace technology, strive for excellence, and contribute to the development of their country. They emphasized that education is not just a means to personal success but a responsibility to society.

Dr. Prince Sorie Conteh – Pro Vice Chancellor, EBK University of Science & Technology said Sky Vision College is a Key Academic Partner to EBK UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY.

Dr. Prince Sorie Conteh emphasized the growing role of IT education in transforming Sierra Leone’s workforce and its significance on the global stage.

“In today’s world, IT education is no longer an option; it is a necessity. The global economy is driven by technology, and Sierra Leone must equip its youth with the skills needed to thrive in this digital era,” he stated.

He encouraged students to focus on practical knowledge rather than just theory. “It is not just about earning a degree; it is about acquiring hands-on skills that will enable you to create solutions, develop software, secure networks, and lead digital transformation in Africa and beyond.”

Mr. Oladapo Coulson-Olowu – PR & Communications Expert, NCTVA stressed the importance of IT education in bridging the digital divide and preparing students for international opportunities.

“The digital world does not recognize borders. If you master IT skills, you are not just preparing for jobs in Sierra Leone but for opportunities on a global platform. IT professionals from Africa are making their mark in Europe, America, and Asia because of their expertise in programming, cybersecurity, and data analytics,” he remarked.

He urged students to leverage their education for practical problem-solving. “The world needs innovators, not just degree holders. Use your time at Sky Vision College to build, create, and solve real-world challenges. That is what will set you apart in the global workforce.”

Mr. Oliver Sumasa – Former Deputy Inspector General of Police, Mr. Oliver Sumasa, highlighted the role of technology in national security and governance.

“In law enforcement, cybersecurity and digital intelligence have become crucial. With more crimes being committed through digital means, we need IT experts who can safeguard our institutions and help in the fight against cybercrime,” he said.

He encouraged students to develop cybersecurity skills and contribute to the protection of national assets. “Sierra Leone needs a strong IT workforce not only for business but also for national security, governance, and infrastructure development. You, the students of Sky Vision College, are the future of this digital revolution.”

Chief Marketing Officer Mrs. Reshma Kadam delivered an inspiring speech, reminding students about the true purpose of education and personal growth.

“As we step into this day, let us remember the purpose that brings us here. You all have chosen to pursue knowledge, to expand our horizons, and to nurture intellectual curiosity. College is not merely a stepping stone towards a career; it is a transformative experience that shapes you into well-rounded individuals,” she said.

She encouraged students to strive for excellence beyond academics, embracing relationships, extracurricular activities, and community engagement.

“The college experience is not limited to the classroom; it extends to the relationships you build, the extracurricular activities you engage in, and the communities you become a part of. Let us seize every opportunity to grow, to challenge ourselves, and to make a positive impact on the world around us,” she added.

She also emphasized the importance of resilience, empathy, and humility, urging students to learn from diverse perspectives and embrace collaboration and teamwork.

The program ended on a high note with students signing the Matriculation Banner and some happy moments. Adding a cultural touch to the event, students showcased their gratitude with their speeches, drama and traditional dance performances, which entertained the audience and celebrated Sierra Leone’s rich heritage.
