In a strategic push to enhance Sierra Leone’s aviation infrastructure and financial resilience, the Sierra Leone Airports Authority (SLAA) presented its Fiscal Year 2026 budget proposal to the Ministry of Finance urging for the approval for new revenue streams and targeted investment in air navigation services.
The FY 2026 budget outlines several strategic priorities, including the replacement of aging navigation aids, completion of the Performance-Based Navigation (PBN) project, and the deployment of smart technologies to enhance air navigation services (ANS) and operational efficiency.
According to the Deputy General Manager, SLAA Mr Bobson Kargbo emphasized that the current ANS fee—charged per departing passenger is no longer sufficient to meet the sector’s growing demands and that urgent approval of new revenue streams is essential.
However, the Ministry of Finance welcomed the proposal and acknowledged the aviation sector’s critical role in driving tourism trade and regional connectivity
