Tonko Limba Road Needs Government Attention

This road serves hundreds of towns and villages, connecting various communities and districts. It also links to Kamakuwai and the Guinea border in northern Sierra Leone.

Hon. Ernest Dura Koroma, representative of Tonko Limba Chiefdom in Constituency 058, has raised serious concerns about the deteriorating condition of the road, describing it as a “death trap” during the rainy season.

This critical roadway not only connects Kambia town to the chiefdom but also serves as a lifeline for several remote villages in the district. Hon. Koroma stressed that the road’s current state is hazardous, endangering the safety and livelihoods of residents.

“The road has become muddy and perilous, making it nearly impassable. The safety of our people is at stake,” he said during a recent address.

Heavy rainfall has worsened the situation, with numerous vehicles getting stuck in deep potholes and treacherous mud. Hon. Koroma highlighted that motorbikes have now become the primary mode of transportation due to the community’s struggle to navigate the deteriorating road.

Despite repeated appeals to the authorities, Hon. Koroma expressed frustration over the lack of action to address the road’s condition.

He has called on the government, particularly the Ministry of Works and the Sierra Leone Road Authority, to prioritize immediate repairs to make the road safe and accessible for residents.

“The Tonko Limba Road must be restored to a usable state,” he urged, calling for swift government intervention after the rainy season ends.

Hon. Koroma emphasized that this road represents more than just a route-it symbolizes connection and progress for the people of Tonko Limba.

As the situation remains critical, residents and local leaders are awaiting the government’s response, hoping for timely action to restore safety and connectivity in the region.
