In an audio statement released on November 28, 2024, Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray, leader of the Alliance Democratic Party (ADP), vehemently denied allegations of sexually
abusing an underage girl.
He stated, “I have never touched or raped any underage girl because I have a daughter, and I would never condone such an act against any young girl.”
This marked the first time Mansaray shared his side of the story after being accused and convicted by a Sierra Leone court in 2020 for the alleged sexual abuse of an underage girl in Kono.
According to Mansaray, he had been
unable to publicly defend himself during

Correctional Centre, leaving the public unaware of his perspective on the case.
Mansaray revealed that before being summoned to the Criminal Investigation
Department (CID) headquarters in
Freetown, he received several calls
advising him to flee the country.
He declined, maintaining his innocence.
In 2019, Mansaray had expressed strong condemnation of sexual offenses during an interview with a prominent journalist,
following the enactment of the Sexual offenses Act of 2019. He stated during
the interview, “I have a daughter, and if anyone were to do such an act to her, I would not tolerate it.”

Furthermore, Mansaray asserted
that he was not in Kono on Valentine’s Day, the date linked to the accusations.
Instead, he stated that he was in Makeni, overseeing construction on his house-a fact he said his lawyer, Charles Francis Margai, was fully aware of.
Mansaray also noted that during the trial, the behavior of the alleged victim’s parents-who, according to him, laughed and signaled disbelief in the accusations suggested the claims were untrue.
Expressing dissatisfaction with the court’s judgment, Mansaray maintained
his innocence and declared that he remains determined to one day lead
Sierra Leone, believing that “God has
already chosen” for that role.
