On January 30, 2026, the All-Africa Students Union (AASU) held a historic inauguration ceremony at the Conference Auditorium of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Accra, Ghana, to swear in its new executive leadership for the 2026–2029 mandate period. Held under the theme “Reimagining Africa’s Education Future,” the event marked both a transition of leadership and a celebration of African leaders contributing to socio-economic development across the continent.
A major highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the Banking Leadership and Service Award to Dr. Walton E. Gilpin, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Rokel Commercial Bank (RCBank). AASU recognized Dr. Gilpin for his exceptional leadership in the banking sector and his unwavering commitment to Africa’s development.
