MAFS Deputy Ministers Unveiled, Pledge to Deliver

On Tuesday 11th August 2026, the recently sworn-in Deputy Ministers of Agriculture and Food Security were presented to staff of the Ministry by Dr. Henry Musa Kpaka, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security. The presentation was done as the conference hall of the Ministry on 1st Floor, Youyi Building in Freetown.

Whilst unveiling the Deputy Ministers (I&II) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS), Dr. Henry Musa Kpaka described the Ministers as developmentally-oriented individuals, and stating that their coming is considered as an added advantage, as there is more work to be done.  He further enlightened his Deputy Ministers that the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security is categorized under three (3) distinctive areas, namely; the Political, Administrative and Technical.

Dr. Isata Kamanda, Deputy Minister I expressed appreciation to staff of the Ministry, and assured all that she remain fully committed to working with the Minister and by extension, with staff of the Ministry. She emphasized the need for teamwork as a very integral element in the promotion of the Feed Salone Agenda.

Deputy Minister II Bryan Smart-Kanu (Ing.) expressed gratitude to staff of the Ministry. He applauded all for working with the Minister especially, towards the actualization of President Bio’s dream of Sierra Leone achieving food self-sufficiency.

He further disclosed that his primary goal is to work with the Minister and ensure he succeeds. He called on all to join hands together in the actualization of food self-sufficiency. He underscored the need for teamwork as the watchword for all to succeed.

Permanent Secretary – Nancy Tengbeh (Mrs.) heightened that the Ministry is very keen on teamwork with a vibrant human resource to take on issues. She revealed to both Ministers that the Ministry remain very committed in promoting food sufficiency as such has been demonstrated with reference to accolades received from other countries. She called on the Ministers to feel at home and interact, asking questions where necessary.

On behalf of the technical wing, Professor Abdulai Jalloh, Chief Agriculture Officer (CAO), extols Minister Kpaka, describing his leadership as very committed on uplifting the Ministry to higher level. He encouraged both Ministers to keep up with the momentum of moving forward, as the Ministry remain committed in that drive.
