Magbema Chiefdom leader urges government and NGOs to prioritize power supply, infrastructure, education and completion of district clock tower

The Paramount Chief of Magbema Chiefdom, Kambia District, Hon. P.C. Bai Farama Bubu N’gbak IV, has made an urgent appeal for government and development partners to address Kambia’s lack of reliable electricity and accelerate investment in key sectors.

Speaking to community stakeholders, Hon. P.C. Bai Farama Bubu N’gbak IV said the absence of electricity remains one of the biggest barriers holding back the district.

“The biggest challenge we face today is that Kambia still has no reliable electricity supply. Without power, businesses cannot grow, students cannot study at night, and health centers cannot function properly. This must change if we want to see real progress,” he said.

He added that while neighboring chiefdoms are seeing gains from ongoing development projects, Kambia continues to lag behind despite its strategic position as a business hub sharing a border with the Republic of Guinea.

“If we get stable electricity and better roads, Kambia can serve as a gateway for cross-border trade and create thousands of jobs for our youth,” the Paramount Chief stated.

Hon. P.C. Bai Farama Bubu N’gbak IV also called on NGOs and government institutions to support the completion of the district clock tower, describing it as a symbol of Kambia’s identity and civic pride. He further urged increased investment in roads, schools, healthcare, and youth employment.

“We want to see Kambia move forward. With the right investment and partnership, our district can become a model for inclusive growth,” he said.
