SLPP 2028: Hon. Musa Tarawally Gains Ground

As the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) begins to look ahead to the 2028 general elections, discussions about the party’s future leadership continue to gain momentum. Among the names frequently mentioned by supporters and grassroots members is Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally, whom many describe as one of the party’s strongest pillars and a potential flagbearer capable of leading the SLPP into the next electoral cycle.

Supporters often refer to Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally as a “big country tree”—a symbol of strength, stability, and dependability. They believe his years of political experience, leadership qualities, generosity, and steadfast commitment to the growth and unity of the SLPP have earned him widespread respect across the country.

Over the years, Hon. Tarawally has built strong relationships with party members, traditional authorities, community leaders, youth groups, women’s organizations, and other stakeholders in various parts of Sierra Leone. According to many of his supporters, his ability to connect with people from different backgrounds has made him a respected and influential figure both within the SLPP and beyond.

Those advocating for his leadership argue that the party’s future success depends on selecting a flagbearer who can unite members, strengthen internal cohesion, and appeal to a broad cross-section of the electorate. They believe Hon. Musa Tarawally possesses the vision, experience, and political maturity required to lead the party while advancing national development.

Beyond politics, supporters also point to what they describe as his commitment to humanitarian and community development initiatives. They say he has consistently extended assistance to vulnerable and underprivileged people across the country. According to those supporters, he has empowered numerous women by providing financial support to help them establish small businesses and improve their livelihoods. They also claim he has funded business start-ups for many young people, creating opportunities for entrepreneurship and self-employment.

His supporters maintain that these initiatives reflect his belief in economic empowerment and inclusive development, particularly for women and young people, who remain central to Sierra Leone’s future.

As preparations for the party’s future leadership contests gradually take shape, delegates will ultimately decide who should carry the SLPP’s banner into the 2028 elections. Supporters of Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally remain optimistic that, if entrusted with the mandate, he can unite the party, inspire confidence among the electorate, and provide the leadership they believe is necessary to strengthen the SLPP’s prospects in the years ahead.

Whether or not he emerges as the party’s candidate, there is little doubt that his name will remain part of the ongoing conversation about the future direction and leadership of the Sierra Leone People’s Party.
