Court Remands Mason, Scrap Dealer for Theft

Thirty-year-old Abdulia Turay, a mason, and Joseph Trawallie, a scrap iron dealer, have been remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown pending sentencing by Magistrate John Manso Fornah of Pademba Road Court No. 2.

The accused are facing two-count charges of larceny contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916, and receiving stolen goods contrary to Section 33(1) of the same Act.

According to the particulars of offence, on Thursday, 9th April 2026, at Car Wash Old School, Hill Station in the Mountain Rural District, Western Area, Freetown, the first accused, Abdulia Turay, allegedly stole one Honda motorcycle engine, two motorcycle engine casings, and two motorcycle tyre rims, all valued at Le9,800, property of Alpha Koroma.

The second count states that on the same date and at the same location, the second accused, Joseph Trawallie, allegedly received the stolen items one Honda motorcycle engine, two engine casings, and two tyre rims valued at Le9,800, knowing them to have been stolen.

When the charges were read and explained to them, both accused persons pleaded guilty.

Magistrate Fornah subsequently remanded both defendants to the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown for records and sentencing. The matter has been adjourned to 22nd April 2026 for sentencing.
