Two drivers, 29-year-old Joseph Macfoy and 34-year-old Abdul Rahman Jawara, have appeared before Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown on two-count charges relating to conspiracy and larceny.
The charges include conspiracy to commit a felony, namely larceny by servant, contrary to law, and larceny by servant contrary to Section 17(1)(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the prosecution, on Sunday, 8th March 2026, at Hill Station in the Western Area of Freetown, the accused conspired together with other persons unknown to commit the offence.
The court further heard that on the same date and location, both defendants while employed as drivers by Maripoma Investment Sierra Leone Limited allegedly stole a white Toyota Land Cruiser Hardtop with registration number AYJ 209. The vehicle, valued at €45,969 (equivalent to Le1,185,356), was reportedly in the custody of Dominic Frimpong and is the property of Maripoma Investment Sierra Leone Limited.
When the charges were read and explained, both accused pleaded not guilty.
Prosecutor Inspector Mabel M. Trawallie informed the court that copies of the defendants’ statements had been served on them, which they both confirmed receiving.
Magistrate Jah granted bail to the first accused, Joseph Macfoy, in the sum of Le1,000,000, with one surety in like amount. The surety must be a Sierra Leonean resident within the court’s jurisdiction and must present a valid identification card. Bail is subject to approval by the Deputy Assistant Registrar.
The second accused, Abdul Rahman Jawara, was remanded in custody. The matter has been adjourned to 23rd April 2026.
