Former BALL Logistics Violates Workers’ Rights

Many former employees of BALL Logistics Mining Company, a subcontractor to Sierra Rutile Limited, say they are still waiting to receive their redundancy benefits more than a month after their employment was terminated.

The workers were declared redundant on Thursday, 11 June 2026. According to the affected former employees, the company has yet to fully honor its commitments regarding the payment of agreed redundancy packages, leaving many families facing financial hardship and uncertainty.

The matter has been brought before the Legal Aid Representative for Lower Banta and Imperi Chiefdoms, who has been facilitating dialogue between the former employees and the company in an effort to reach an amicable resolution.

One of the mediation meetings, held at the Social Hall and attended by the Legal Aid Representative, the Local Unit Commander (LUC) of the Rutile Police Division, company representatives, and other stakeholders, resulted in a number of commitments aimed at resolving the dispute. The former employees say those commitments created expectations that the outstanding payments would be settled and the matter concluded fairly.

However, the workers allege that many of the promised redundancy payments have still not been made.

In addition, some former employees claim they were instructed to return their Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) despite not receiving formal redundancy termination letters. Others say they were employed by the company without being issued official appointment letters and have also not received any severance or employment-related benefits following the termination of their services.

The former employees are appealing to BALL Logistics Mining Company and all relevant authorities to ensure that the outstanding issues are addressed promptly and in accordance with applicable labour laws and agreements reached during the mediation process.

Community Progressive Voice Online TV and Radio will continue to monitor developments and seek responses from BALL Logistics Mining Company and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that all sides of the matter are fairly represented.
