QCell Named Most Affordable Telecom Provider for 2025

The Consumer Protection Agency Sierra Leone (CPA-SL) has awarded Qcell Sierra Leone as the best quality and most affordable telecommunications service provider for 2025. The award ceremony took place on Tuesday, 21 April, in recognition of the company’s commitment to delivering accessible, quality and reliable telecom services to citizens across the country.
Presenting the award on behalf of CPA-SL, the Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fengai, stated that the agency has closely monitored Qcell’s performance since its entry into the Sierra Leonean market. He noted that the company has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to providing affordable and quality telecommunications services, even in remote and underserved areas.
He emphasized that despite the numerous challenges within the telecommunications sector, Qcell has continued to prioritize affordability and accessibility. According to him, this has earned the company widespread appreciation from Sierra Leoneans.
“QCell has made it possible for ordinary citizens to access quality and affordable telecommunications services. Their ability to provide internet services at competitive prices, such as offering 2Mbps at NLe60, has made a significant impact, especially for people in remote communities,” he said.
Gengai further clarified that the recognition was not based on favoritism but on public perception and feedback from citizens across the country. He highlighted Qcell’s expansion of its network coverage nationwide, as well as its innovative services such as 4G Lite and QPower, which have contributed to its selection as Telecom Company of the Year 2025.
Receiving the award on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer of QCell Sierra Leone, a company representative expressed appreciation to CPA-SL for the recognition. He noted that in today’s digital age, telecommunications services are no longer a luxury but a necessity, and QCell remains committed to ensuring that all Sierra Leoneans, regardless of location, have access to these essential services.
He added that QCell operates as a comprehensive network, catering not only to urban areas but also extending its services to rural communities, ensuring equal access to quality connectivity.
“This award is not just a recognition of our efforts but also a reminder of the responsibility we carry. It motivates us to continue improving and meeting the expectations of our customers,” he stated.
Also speaking at the event, Edward Nelson Pratt, Head of Marketing at QCell Sierra Leone, thanked CPA-SL for acknowledging the company’s efforts. He reaffirmed QCell’s commitment to providing affordable, reliable, and uninterrupted telecommunications services.
Pratt noted that since its inception, QCell has remained focused on delivering services that even low income earners can afford. He further disclosed that the company has expanded its operations to cover all 16 districts in Sierra Leone, marking a significant milestone in its growth.
“We have upgraded our network infrastructure to ensure better service delivery for our customers. This achievement would not have been possible without the continued support of the people of Sierra Leone,” he said.
He stressed that QCell views its customers as its top priority, describing them as the driving force behind the company’s success. According to him, the company remains committed to listening to customer feedback and continuously improving its services.
“This award means greater responsibility for us. We are determined to do more, set higher standards, and keep pace with global technological trends,” Pratt concluded.
The recognition of QCell by CPA-SL highlights the growing importance of affordable telecommunications in Sierra Leone’s development and underscores the role of private sector innovation in expanding digital access nationwide
